Colief for colic - is it worth buying?

It looks like my 7wo dc1 has got colic (according to the hv). To try and help we've bought dr browns bottles, are using C&G comfort milk, and are also using Infacol before each feed (as well as winding as much as poss, sitting up during feeding etc). These things have helped somewhat but my lo still seems to suffer a lot. The hv recommended buying colief - but is it worth buying, especially as we're using comfort milk?

I dont want to waste money if it wont be effective (gp wont prescribe it and im on SMP so every penny counts at mo) - and im not sure if Infacol is working...

I haven't used it but a friend swears by it. said it worked when nothing else would.

I also swear by it! My ds screamed non stop every waking second, it was horrendous, he just wouldnt settle and seemed in a lot of pain. Infacol didnt work for us at all and both the midwife and the doctor recommended colief and pretty much said it was the only thing that did work. Within a few days he turned into, and remained a completely different baby who was comfortable, happy, and settled between feeds!

I too recommend it. DD who is 11 weeks old takes it in every feed as you can give it in every feed, whereas others limit you to 6 times a day which is awkward if they take more than that.

It's really helpful and seems to ease her need to be sick and seems to make her less uncomfortable when bringing up wind.

My ds had this as well as dr browns and comfort milk, one of th three worked I never knew which.... Can your hv not prescribe it ? It was new when my ds was small and had to be bought but know other mums in last few years got it on prescription.

I also swore by it for DC1 who couldn't lie down flat as his colic/wind was so bad. The couple of occasions we ran out the difference was noticeable.

I know at this stage it feels like it will go on forever but another 6-7 weeks you should start to see an improvement anyway.

What makes you think he has colic? Reason I ask is I do quite a few consultations with babies who are been treated for colic and reflux but what I mostly find is that they are sensitive babies and they get over tired and over stimulated easily and once they are getting proper sleep the symptoms disappear.
