5 w/o went 7 hours between feeds?

Normally my EBF baby has a long feed at 8pm, a 'dream feed' at 11pm then wakes up about 2am again to feed. However she is very difficult to wake up for her 11pm. Last night we tried absolutely everything short of shocking her awake. It got to 1130 and I said to DP I'd just go to bed, assuming she'd wake me up about half an hour later to be fed just as I was dropping off. Next thing I'm waking to her 'hungry noises' (mild ones) and its 3am.. So, without any crankiness, she's gone 7 hours.

My question really is at 5 weeks old, is it okay for her to go that long if she's bf? I suspect the feed we've been doing at 11pm is pretty superfluous and, if we didn't wake her, the 7 hour stretch could become a regular thing. But I'm worried that's an awful long time to be going between feeds? My boob felt very full but not uncomfortable/sore.

Thanks in advance.

Can you ask your health visitor? I would imagine as long as she is gaining weight it is fine, but I would check with HV to be sure.

How many feeds is she taking across a 24 hour period? As long as she is getting minimum 6-8 feeds across 24 hours, is bright and alert, gaining weight, with plenty of wet nappies, I would say all is good.

Sounds fine, she will wake when hungry! This is assuming she is well & healthy generally. Why not see what happens tonight if you don't do the dream feed?

It's only happened the once so don't have anything to check against yet. If it keeps happening ill definitely keep an eye on her weight.

She's having an average of 8 feeds a day so should still be getting plenty. pebble I'm going to try and lose the dream feed again tonight and see what happens. :)

Thanks all.
