Ouch! 7mo keeps biting.

My ebf 7mo DS is nipping and biting during feeds. Really hurt me yesterday (nipple still sore, and he chose the side that I recently had mastitis on). Sad

I'm trying firmly telling him "no biting" and setting him down for a few minutes. He's started crying when I do this, which makes me feel awful.

Any suggestions?

Some find that if they feed lying down for a couple of days it passes, think they find it harder to bite if they are lying down.

Could Lo be teething? Have you tried a teething gel, like dentinox or pain relief like ibruprofen?

Other than that google kellymom biting or give one of the bfing helplines a call, I did when DS was biting at the same age and the BFC helped me get through it and continue bfing Smile

I suspect he's teething.

I would bring ds and dd into my boob immediately and they'd come off and maybe cry. But they got it quickly within a couple of times.

I think the biting tends to happen once they've had most of their fill, they also get faster at feeding. So just take them off when they do it.

DD did that at that age, and has stopped now at 10 months.

I found the kellymom article helpful. I said 'no' calmly but firmly, and interrupted the feed for a minute or so while still cuddling her.

I found she mainly bit when she wasn't really hungry anymore anyway.

Good luck
