Sore breasts - feels like swollen glands?

I've just gone back to work so my 11mo dd has dropped from three feeds a day to two - not a massive drop and I'm not experiencing any engorgement or anything. However, the last two days I've had a really bad ache/shooting pain down my left breast from my armpit to the nipple. "Pain" is probably too strong a word, really, it's just a bad ache/shooting discomfort... It feels a bit like you feel in your armpits/breasts when your glands are swollen because you're ill, but it's only on one side. I don't think I am ill or coming down with anything! I have gone back to wearing underwired bras, rather than nursing bras, for work (although not today) and I wondered if this could be the cause of the pain in some way?

Anyone have any ideas? I am a bit concerned that it is worse today than yesterday...

Are you definitely wearing the right size underwire? What size are you currently wearing and have you measured yourself like this: thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk/p/fitting-advice.html

Blocked duct? Look up on kellymom and self treat.

That's how I feel if I get a blocked area so do keep an eye on it. I've found that it's not always possible to feel a distinct lump - either because the blockage is deep down in the breast or it's a wider area that's getting inflamed.

It wouldn't hurt to treat as if it were blocked. Ibuprofen if you want to use a painkiller as it's anti-inflammatory, drain well, make sure no clothing is causing a restriction, heat, massage etc.

Probably not wearing the right size underwired bras, so thank you showtunesgirl. Will go back to the non-wire ones and treat it as though a blocked duct and see how I get on! Thanks.
