Do you still feed on demand with formula?

I have just this past week made the switch over from breast to formula feeding my 8 wk old baby. From birth he had always had pretty evenly spaced 3 hours between feeds. Should this start to be extended now he is on formula? Or do I just follow his cues as I would with bf? Should it start becoming longer between feeds by now anyway ? He goes longer at night ( between 4-6 hours) so don't mind (and actually enjoy :)) the regular feeding in the day x

Just follow his cues. I didn't BF at all for many reasons, and my DC were fed on demand. You might need to be a bit quicker to recognise the hungry signs though, to give you time to make up the formula. Smile

Ha! Yes have learnt that lesson.... He certainly doesn't wish to wait for a bottle to be made up :/

Give baby a bottle whenever he wants! WHO guidelines say you can make up bottles in advance and keep in fridge for no more than 24 hours. Not as ideal as making each one up fresh but better than a howling baby

My DS is 8 months old and still howls for a bottleGrin

Yes. Feed on demand.

I've fed all 3 of mine on demand - they were all formula fed from birth.
