TTC whilst bfing

I've already posted in pregnancy but there doesn't seem to be many people who have experience of this there so I thought I might have more luck here.

So it took us 2+ years to conceive Dd (known fertility issues so can assume it'll take a long time again iyswim) because of that we are considering TTC DC2 later this year however I'm still bf Dd who is 9 months and I don't want to stop but I haven't had a post birth period yet.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and got pregnant or did you have to wait until weaned before getting a bfp?

I got pregnant with DD2 whilst BF DD1. DD1 was about 17 or 18 mo. With DD1, I got pregnant on the first try but we were on holiday so had plenty of opportunity (sorry, TMI). With DD2 it took maybe 3 or 4 months, but I don't know whether this was down to BF or down to not having as many tries. I got my period back when DD1 was only 9 weeks old.

A lot of mothers find that night weaning is enough to kickstart ovulation, is your DD feeding much at night?

Loads! She still wakes every 2 hours or so. Can't think why I want another after writing that!

I started TTC when ds1 was 14 months or so. It wasn't until I night weaned him at 3.5yo that I finally got pregnant.

I was ovulating and having periods, but the luteal phase was too short to allow implantation.

I nightweaned 13mo DD about 6 weeks ago, I think. Up until that point I was ovulating very late in my cycle, and breastfeeding at least every two hours throughout the night. Once I nightweaned her, ovulation happened about day 17/18 (instead of 25!), and I got BFP that month. Last week, in fact. I'm nearly 5 weeks pregnant now.

I got pregnant twice while breastfeeding, first time literally the month we started trying (though sadly ended in m/c), second time took two months - both much quicker than TTC DS1. My periods came back regularly at 8 months, though.
