I've been taken half a lemon juice and baking soda for the last three days thinking it was great for my little one with breastfeeding. But I just read not a good idea to do this. now I'm worrying. Will little one be ok? I will stop taking it now.

What's worrying you about it? I can't think what harm it would do. Lemon (or lemon juice) is a perfectly normal food, and baking soda is in loads of foods as a raising agent. I suppose it's unusual to have these two perfectly ok foods together, but why would they be harmful?

LittleJack15 · 09/06/2013 15:47

I was a bit worried because they say it gets rid of all toxins and don't want it to go into my breast milk to little chap.

What toxins are you worrying about?

tiktok · 09/06/2013 16:53

If you are following a book or something similar, where does it say the 'toxins' go?

ExBrightonBell · 09/06/2013 16:54

"Detoxing" is a myth - no "toxins" will leave your body through drinking lemon & bicarb. It's only organs like your liver than can remove toxins from your body!!

tiktok · 09/06/2013 17:12

Quite agree, ExBrightonBelle....unless the OP is in serious organ failure, her body will do a fab job at detoxing without any help from lemon juice and bicarb :)

Detoxing for me whilst feeding means just half a packet of biscuits and leaving the other half for later in the day Grin
