I had my little boy on sunday, been breast feeding really wanting to give it my best shot, but I really don't know how much longer I can carry on. I am so sore, cracked and bleeding.

I can't see how it will ever get better seen as they have no chance to heal. I am crying every feed dreading it.

Sometimes he latches on really well then pulls away and goes to the end of the nipple.

I've tried lanolin cream got some special heat packs and cool packs.

Any advice how to get past this stage I am really on the edge on giving up but I don't want to let him or myself down Sad

How are you getting on op?

NeedSomeSun142 · 10/06/2013 14:45

hello I caved in yesterday. we are on bottles now. I couldn't carry on and have much respect for everyone that can do it because it's not easy. I wasn't enjoying it and felt like I wasn't bonding with baby because of pain. My toddler was confused why I was getting upset everytime I fed baby. I now have boobs like Katie price.
thanks for taking time out to answer my post

You've done really well getting this far! Lots of people don't even start!

Make sure you look after yourself though, are you expressing any milk to stop you being uncomfortable?

Enjoy your baby!

thanks I do feel quite guilty but I tried my best.
well I rung midwife she said it would stimulate more milk to be made? and best to leave alone wear really tight bra and paracetamol, the most uncomfortable part should be over in 24-48 hours

Don't feel guilty! You did your best! Happy mummy, happy baby!! Am sure the mw is right, hope the discomfort ends soon

OP I am in exactly the same position as you were at the moment. Seriously considering introducing formula, even if just for evening feeds to give me a break! My DS wants to feed constantly and is so painful, just using the nipple like yours. Dont blame you for having enough!

Hope you are feeling better by now and that you are enjoying your baby. In a few years this will be a distant memory so try not to feel guilty. Like you say, you tried your best which is all we can do for our children!
