My DD is 8mo and has refused breastfeeds since yesterday at 9am!

She has recently got her front 4 teeth and has bitten me a few times (not deliberately) once was very painful and I yelped. Yesterday I latched her on and she was a bit rough, I said 'no' to her but not in a cross way. She pulled off and screamed, she's not fed since.

She's currently running a fever and has a sore throat according to GP.

Please tell me I've not broken my breastfeeding, I really want to go to a year and it's making me really sad thinking that she might not want to breastfeed again :(

The fact that she has a sore throat and temp tells me she is simply unwell and maybe doesn't feel like she wants milk or can't be bothered with the effort involved. I am sure once she is feeling better she will be back on the boob! Sure it is just a temporary halt in normal proceedings x

Thanks lady pop, I needed someone to tell me that.

I called NCT helpline and the lady said that the sucking motion can be painful for their throat/ears. I really hope she picks it up again when shes better.

I am sure it will - one thing I have learnt is that most issues are phases that pass, but seem (and are) big deals at the time. I am having my own feeding issues with 7 week old DS2 at the mo, but trying to stay calm and work through it! Hope she feels better soon x
