Clicking / slurping while bf?

DD2 is 5 wks now and for the last week or so has been making a slurpy noise while bfing, when she sucks, as if she's taking in air as well as milk. I've googled and it seems like something they SHOULDN'T DO, but I've adjusted latch etc and can't stop it. Mw has had a look and says latch is good. DD has lots of wet nappies, not fussing, no extra wind. What should I do? Is it a problem? It probably does vibrate the nipple more but I've not noticed any extra soreness.

Some babies are just noisier than others! My DS was a much louder feeder than my DD and, of course, the breasts were the same for both. As long as your DD is happy and healthy, I would just relax about the noise, especially as you're not getting sore either. When you take her for her to the doc for her newborn check, just make sure they have a good look in her mouth in case there is any tiny abnormality causing this. Hope this helps.

Agree it could be normal but feel its worth getting her checked for tongue tie. Is there a bfing support group near to you where they could check? If not, see if there is a la Leche league leader in your area Smile

My dd does this. Good latch and no tongue tie, she is just super loud!

Thank you all. That is reassuring. Am going to try to find someone to look at it again, as it does worry me and I can't seem to get her to stop. But it's good to know that other people's babies are just noisy too!
