stopping expressing

I have been expressing a two/three feeds per day for my 7 week old baby since birth as I couldn't get him to latch on without the midwifes at hospital helping me.

I am now thinking of stopping expressing as i seem to be getting less milk each day and my dh is working very long hours for the next month (out of the house 14/15 hours per day) so finding time to sit down to express on top of everything else is getting difficult.

I haven't expressed today and did last one at 9pm last night.

should i just go cold turkey or try expressing a bit later if my boobs feel full/sore? and maybe express once a day for a while when dh gets home tonight.

my boobs are feeling a bit full/tender atm but not as bad as they did when ds was a couple of weeks old.

The advice for stopping bfing is to drop one feed a every 2 weeks to reduce your risk of mastitis, I'm not trained but assume its the same for expressing.

I'd call one of the bfing helplines a call. The BFC will be able to talk to you about stopping, she may also be able to give you some suggests for making pumping easier for you if you did want to continue. Have you got the numbers?

I've just done this, I was advised by a consultant at the breast clinic and my GP to just go cold turkey, however I really didn't think this was best for me (I had mastitis and terrified of getting it again as it was so horrible) so I cut out one expressing session every 4 days, worked perfectly, not too uncomfortable at all
