I think DS2 has become the first baby to entirely empty a pair of breasts <lighthearted>

DS2 who is ten weeks old has been breastfeeding since 5pm. Non-stop (minus a very speedy toilet break). Any time I suspect he is asleep and nudge him off the nipple, he roars with fury.

I went for a pee at 8:54pm and he chewed his fist desperately with a crazed expression on his face for the whole time and then virtually swum back to me across the air from DH when I sat down again.

I managed to remove all my clothes while still breastfeeding, which surely qualifies me for the next Olympics or something.

Do you think he will be the first baby to genuinely empty a pair of breasts? I mean, what can be left in there?

I think he's developed a new chin since this morning....

I remember those days

I used to joke that DD wasn't a baby but a bottomless pit disguised as a cute squishy infant

The worst thing is that DS2 has been my "light" breastfeeder after the monster that was his brother....now he is showing his true colours.

Op I can beat you - dd bf pretty much solidly for 11 hrs when she was a few weeks old. & I had a migraine at the time.

Seriously though, it's tough. Keep eating the choc & repeat "this too shall pass". Good luck

I've been feeding minimilk (6wk old DD) since 7pm.
Surely she must be full by now??

Chocolate is good. And diluting juice.

My always-hungry baby is now an always-hungry toddler. If DC2, due in Aug, is the same then we may have to remortgage to keep them both in food... I have nightmares about what's going to happen when DS reaches his teen years!

Jesus, Forgetful. An 11 hour binge? That sounds like my DS1, who basically was born and then sat on the boob for the next year and a half with small trips away for sadly necessary things like walking and developing speech.

My dd now likes to sleep with one hand down my top & on a boob (protecting her food supply you see)

They do not get full, they just get bigger.

I used to think that she was digesting at the same rate she was eating!

Dd had a tongue tie which was snipped at 4 weeks, she was honest to goodness latched on for 23 hours a day from 2 weeks to 6 weeks. We co-slept (we had to!) she sucked in her sleep. Actually, visibly sucked not just manages to stay latched. I fed in a sling during the day if I absolutely had to do anything, otherwise I just lay under her exhausted.

She got more efficient at feeding after the tie was snipped and finally gave my poor breasts a break. I tried formula but she chucked it back up, I would have tried whiskey by that point

It passed, I vividly remember describing what I was going through at the breast feeding group and one woman saying to me
"my dd was a lot like that, I know you won't believe this but you'll miss it when it's gone so try and appreciate the good bits"
I thought to myself 'HA!'

But it's true, in those first newborn weeks you are your baby's entire universe, deep in the depths of their developing brain they know you are the most important thing in existence and they don't want to be away from you for a second.

It is beautiful and after all there will be plenty of time for peeing in peace when they're off out with their mates and your as uncool as it possible to be.

3 starvacious DC later and no. 3 (who calls breast milk 'note' for reasons of her own) believes that 'note' is all hers. She often asks for a quick view, so she can appreciate the 'note', and say once again that it is mine, not yours. She has very very sturdy legs.

You are right Herrena. There will be time for peeing later and I tell myself this is somehow quality pelvic floor exercise time holding in my bodily fluids....

DS2 also has chunky thighs. He was born as a delicate 25th centiler for weight and has climbed to 68th within ten weeks.

He woke up at 3am, had a quick super-fast feed, vomited it over my phone and bedclothes and is now happily back on the boob for the long term again. Argh.

I tandem feed my DTs and DTS has started to put a hand on his sister's boob and is now working on getting a finger or two in her mouth as she feeds. Obviously one boob is not enough for him!

Faithlet's longest feeding session was 7 hours. I was exhausted. That would be one of the times DH suggested introducing formula...it's all about getting supply right though.

Ruby sounds like your baby is trying to Chubb up! Faithlet was 0.2 percentile (5lb 4oz at birth) and has been making up for it ever since. At 4 weeks she was 6lb 13,5oz so had leaped at 4th percentile. My aunty's friend was a BF support worker and when my aunty told her about Faithlet's gain, she said That's gold top milk then!

I hardly feel fair complaining now Free has come on here with her tandem feeding twins. If I have nipples of steel, she must have pure diamond!

Very fortunately her feeding never seemed to hurt my nipples although I I let my water bottle run out my whole chest would ache.

That's some weight gain! For all the never ending feeding dds gain was very slow, born at 7, dropped to 6 and didn't hit 10 til 6 months. I stopped getting her weighed in the end as it was too depressing.

She's 16 months now and still long and skinny as eating like a bottom less pit!

same here. am on marathonist nr 3. And also have smallest a-cups in history but all three dc grew monstrously in the first months.

I did a quick check on Kellymom earlier to check out the usual ages for growth spurts as DS1 was basically one long growth spurt. I am ever hopeful that DS2 won't follow the same pattern.

I enjoyed this: "During a growth spurt, breastfed babies nurse more often than usual (sometimes as often as every hour) and often act fussier than usual."

As often as every hour? DS2 has had nine deep sucking, heavy and fast glugging breastfeeds in the last three hours alone. He doesn't actually delatch at all later in the day.

Still, he is deliciously snuggly. That's the clever thing about babies. They abuse your body and mind endlessly and you still sit there worshipping them. Clever swines.

Ah Ruby. Don't worry. Tbh bfing is now dead easy even with twins at 16 weeks. The mammoth cluster feeding days are gone. (I think we had a few good 6 hour sessions with DTS- exhausting!). Now thy feed for 10 mins, max 20 mins during the day (nights a different story!). We drove for 14 hours yesterday and it was awesome not to have to worry about bottles/sterilising etc. I could give the grumpy baby a top up whenever I needed/whenever we stopped.
