9 months going without milk during day?

I'm due to go on a course next weekend and DH will be looking after DS. The thing is, he won't accept expressed milk at all now, we've tried all the tricks, bottles and cups! I assume at 9 months he'll be fine to go without his 2 daytime feeds and just get his morning and night for one day? He's good at drinking water so should be well hydrated.

when ds had the d&v bug last month we kept him off milk for 2 or 3 days and he was fine. i know it's not exactly the same but makes me think it shouldn't be a problem for you.

I think he will be fine. make sure he has plenty of water and maybe offer a yoghurt at lunchtime although even that is not really necessary. DD was down to 3 lots of milk a day by that point I think. Can't remember if it was two bf and one formula or the other way round. You could leave some expressed milk if you can be bothered and see if he has a change of attitude when he realises that you are not around.

I had similar problem with my six month old, refused to take a bottle and I had to go back to work. Lo and behold after a few days with a childminder she was drinking from bottles... She didn't dehydrate in the meantime though. Your son will be fine

My ds2 stopped breast feeding at 8months and would NOT take milk at all and still doesnt.I was worried for a while but realised he could still get plently in form of dairy eg yogs.cheese sauces,milk on porridge etc.I wouldnt worry esp as he drinking water.More importantly how do you feel re weekend away?!:)

when ds didn't accept expressed milk, i put it in his food and that way i i knew he was getting some
i also added cream, milk etc to food like a few others have mentioned.
i'm sure he'll be fine! mine was!

Thanks everyone. I'm not actually away yummymummy - jsut out from 9 until 4. It's a baby first aid course - my mum is insanely worried about me choking DS with finger foods so she's booked me on it! I'm very very intrigued to see how DH manages having DS all to himself all day I bet he cops out and takes DS to his mums.

I think I'll leave some expressed milk so we can encourage DS back the the bottle. I'll get DH to put some in him lunch too so I know he's getting some - what a good idea - I just never considered it!

My 8 mth old breastfed baby had water from a cup while I was away at work.

Suzi2, he'll be fine. I left ds (9 months) on Saturday for the first time to go on a hen do (races during the day, then meal out). I'd expressed milk over the last few weeks for the freezer and was hoping he'd take some out of a cup. He didn't - if anything it seemed to upset him but he ate stacks and was tucked up in bed by the time I got back. He doesn't accept water from a cup particularly well but I knew he wouldn't dehydrate over the course of a day as long as he was eating a reasonable amount.

First aid course sounds like a really good idea. Is it a general one or a special one aimed at parents?

The course is actually this Saturday. I have tried DS with some cold expressed milk out of the fridge in a cup and he loved it. So I'll leave some of that to go with his meals.

The course is a St Johns Ambulance one (or St Andrews Ambulance since I'm in bonnie Scotland) and it's a 1 day baby/child lifesaver course. I booked it online with them. I think it's probably aimed mostly at parents and relatives of children. I would think that most professional carers would need more qualification than this one. It mostly covers CPR for different ages and how to deal with choking. So it certainly sounds useful (although hopefully I'll never have to use it!) If it's any good I think I'll go on the adult lifesaver one too. It's about £30 BTW.
