I am currently exclusively bf but will need to move dd onto formula when I return to work. Having started to review the formula options it is clear that there are far more options than the last time I did this with ds2. Anyone have any preferences or advice on any to avoid ???

When I returned to work, dd was on 3 ish feeds a day, so I fed her morning and night and then expressed twice in the day at work (as I was a teacher I had to do it around playtimes etc). Found it easy enough but I had expressed from an early point (2/3 weeks).

It was no secret from my colleagues- but they were the sort of colleagues not to mind. WinkI used a small cool bag to keep the pump and milk in the staff fridge. I always used to offer it when we had run out of milk for tea and coffee- but they always declined Grin.

I know Bozza and tiktok, iron deficiency in babies is a bit of an obsession with her. She also recommends weaning at 4 months for the same reason. You've reassured me that you don't really need to give the follow-on though as I do feel under pressure sometimes to bulk her dd up, but whenever I've tried giving her formula in baby rice, she rubs it all over her face and her face breaks out in splotches Sad My mum said that when we were about 9+ months she just gave us watered down cows milk to supplement our solids.

Good luck ellenrose in whatever you decide for your ds2 :)

blOndie - hate to say it but your MW friend is not up to date at all advising weaning at 4 months due to iron stores. Best use I have heard for follow on milk is that it makes nice icecream Smile
