Anita underwired nursing bras

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of these bras. I know underwire isn't recommended. With my last child I wore underwired bras but only after about 5 months or so when my boobs had settled down and feeds were fairly predictable.

Have you worn one of these bras from the off? How was it when your milk came in and in those first weeks when your boobs are a bit out of control.

I'm currently an H (38 weeks) so I would love love love a bra with more support and a better shape. But not at the expense of blocked ducts and mastitis!

Don't know about blocked ducts, maybe get through the humongous book early days? As long as the wire isn't rubbing on breast tissue shouldn't be a problem. Even ill fitting seems on non wired ones can have the same problems.

Just a note of warning they only go up to an H and are rather on the small size :( I can't for in them.

I wear one, haven't had any probs. Wore it from about 6 weeks I think. Before that wore a fairly decent non wired one- think it was from Mothercare.

I wore one for a while. I think dd2 was about 6 months when I got it. I'm sure the advice about not wearing underwires is because so many people are wearing the wrong size and then the wires can cause problems due to digging into breast tissue. As long as you are wearing the correct size there shouldn't be any boob squishing and therefore shouldn't be any problems.

As others have said, there's nothing wrong with underwire so long as the bras are a good fit (check the recent Mumsnet threads on bra fitting!). It might be cheaper to convert a normal bra though if you need a supportive fit for a H+ cup - you can get nursing bra conversion kits off Ebay and elsewhere for about a fiver. I'm cackhanded no good at sewing but found it easy enough to convert a few bras myself - nowhere seems to stock nursing bras in my size (28FF).

I wore the same model of an Anita nursing bra from just after DS was born for about 18 months - I had a few of the same one and each time a bra gave up (the lace bit near the clip-up bit would tear eventually due to constant up-down, up-down) I'd replace it with the same one! It was the only comfortable nursing bra that didn't make my breasts look ridiculous once clothed.
Stuck with well-cut underwired bras throughout pregnancy though.

Yup, I wear them, got measured around 12 weeks this time round when my size settled down. Just stuck to crop-top/night bra type things until then, as I really did fluctuate a lot in the early days and I'm still convinced my one bout of mastitis (with DS1) was from wearing a too-tight bra. Love the Anita underwired ones now, though, they're really comfy and supportive and also look reasonably nice.

I've not tried those, but all the nursing bras I've owned have been underwired, so have worn them from the birth. So long as you've got a good fit it should be fine, I've had no problem with them and they manage to make my boobs look decent and well-behaved rather than doing their own thing :o

That's so helpful ladies, thanks so much. I thought you would all tell me not to buy them.
I think I'll wear the soft ones for a week or two and as soon as I'm able I see if I can find one in my size.
