Question about breastfed 10 week old

Since being about 4 weeks old, ds2 has only had one feed in the night. He usually slept 7pm until about 3am then got up at 7am. This gradually changed, the night time feed getting later and later until last night he didn't get up in the night at all and slept until 7am. Is this ok?

When I have worked out his daytime feeds, he is probably only having 4-6 breastfeeds a day. He is a big boy, 10 lbs 5 at birth and about 15 pounds now. He weight gain has dropped a little bit on the chart, although the hv was not concerned. Can anyone help?

I would jump with joy if I were you - I was quite lucky with my dd who did about the same although her weight didn't drop - she was a bit of a porker Wink She used to do 8pm-4am, feed then 5am-9am. can't remember how many feeds in the day but she was very alert in daytime from day 1 (which I cursed at the time but realise now how lucky I was with the nights)

That was exactly his routine up until last night! To be honest, I quite liked the 5am feed cos it meant I could get breakfast with ds1 and get tidy before ds2 got up at 9am. So 12 hours without a feed isn't too long?

I think you are very lucky. As long as baby put on weight and thrives then i am sure it's fine. Enjoy your sleep you lucky lucky thing!

So the weight gain slowing doesn't matter unless the hv is worried? Also does it matter that it's hot?

anchovies, this is an unusual pattern, but I have known a number of babies who had it (one of mine, for example). You don't say how old your baby is, though, and how far he has dropped on the chart. A certain amount of plateuing and a falling off the centile is normal for bf babies after about 3-4 mths or so...and big babies tend to do this especially, as their big size at birth doesn't last.

He sounds fine to me :)

Thanks tiktok, he is 10 weeks and he has only dropped a bit on the chart, so far he has kind of zigzagged on it anyway. I swore to myself I wasn't going to worry this time but I wasn't prepared for my babies to be so different!
