When can she switch from formula to cow juice?

I've heard tons of conflicting stuff about this and am totally confused. DD is just over 1, she weaned herself off the boob at around 11 months, and I've been giving her formula - I struggle to get her to have 20 oz a day. She seems fine with milk in cereal, yoghurt etc, just not very bothered about her bottle apart from first thing. She eats very well and gets plenty of dairy, fish, meat so - when can I give up the formula?

whispers in case i get told off<

my ds never had a huge milk appetite and i actually switched to whole milk at 11mths. he is now having more milk than before so obviously prefers it to formula

sorry to but in but my ds is just coming up to one and still mostly bf but having maybe 8 oz of formula a day.... do you just switch straight on to cows milk or should you just wean them into it slowly??

lahdeedah · 09/05/2006 20:59

also I wouldn't bother with the bottle anymore, just give it in a cup (I assume she has water from a cup). She's having a good balanced diet so I wouldn't obsess about giving exactly 20oz, just offer her a cup 2 or 3 times a day and she'll drink it if she wants it.

I switched straight over. Some children are happy with the swap, others may need to be changed over gradually.

jollyfolly - try just switching straight to cow's milk. My DD didn't bat an eyelid. Babies don't need formula after 12 months.

Excellent - this is what I was hoping to hear!
Thanks everyone...
