Sleep through the night & how many bottles?

Just started getting serious to let DS sleep through night by removing the midnight bottle. He hasn't complained and did managed to stay asleep until 7:30. It's the second night tonight. What confuses me is during the day, there would be just around 12-13hours to feed him. He can't finish his bottle if I feed him less than 4 hours. Then in which way and how many bottles I shall make sure he has per day? Would he naturally start shorten the time between two feeds or I have to train him?

In a normal day, he has 5 bottles 6-7 oz. He is 5 months.

I wouldn't "train" him. All the advice on feeding says to do it on demand. How much should he be on? Perhaps smaller bottles and more often may work?

Is he on four hourly bottles at the moment during the day?

if so then why not stick with that, drop the midnight bottle and see what happens. so give him just four bottles. if he continues to sleep through and is happy going four hourly in the day then maybe he doesn't need the fifth bottle.

if he wakes in the night or early in the morning then he probably does still need that nighttime feed (but you could try to make it 10.30 instead of midnight?)

or he might become hungrier in the day to compensate for the missing night time bottle and want to feed more often. i suspect it's more likely that he would wake early in the morning though.

Thanks ladies! He woke up at 6:30 crying. Has been a while that he hasn't cried so badly for no reason. So I guess he was hungry.

I will see tonight again, if he still feels so hungry in early morning, probably I would do the night feeding still.

I try to make sure he sees his dad in the evening before going to sleep. So I can only put him to bed around 8pm. In that case, shall I give an 11pm or midnight bottle?

If you are feeding every 4 hours, he'll have a bottle at 6.30pm and then will he have another small one at 8pm? He may not need the night one in that case.
