DD not feeding during the day.

I was just hoping you could give me some advice. DD isn't feeding from me during the day. She still feeds in the evening and overnight. Maybe every other day she wants feeding in the afternoon. She is eating plenty of solids and drinking some water.

She won't really drink from a bottle at the minute.

Is this normal? She's 9 months old now.

Thanks

McKayz have you spoken to a breastfeeding counsellor about this?

Babies of this age sometimes do go through a phase where the world is so interesting in the day they are easily distracted and they get their lovely cuddles and sucking time when things are quieter.

Things can be made worse if you try to fight and struggle - just letting her decide when and where and when to come off is an option.

Has something changed? have you gone back to work? Has she started nursery? Sometimes a bit of confusion in a baby's life seems to lead to a 'strike'.

I have had an informal chat with a friend who is a breastfeeding counsellor who said it can be quite normal at this age. But if she continues for longer than 10 days then to try and get her to feed.

My DH works away and came home last Thursday so he is here now. Whether that is causing it then maybe. We've also been busy with DS1's birthday yesterday.

She will feed sometimes if I offer but if she doesn't want to feed then she won't at all.

Honestly, it sounds like something mysterious that will just pass :) :)

I agree to keep an eye on it, but my betting is she will just change back again!
