We will be spending a few weeks in Switzerland, DS is BF. Anyone got any experience on genneral attitude to al fresco BF in Switzerland? Do i need to work on my put downs in German?

Very liberal minded, it is really unlikely anyone will comment negatively. They don't do Mother and Baby room scenarios for feeding. If you feel uncertain just take a muslin or blanket to shroud him. I fed dd all over the place (Mc D's, shopping centres, trains, restaurants, ski slopes ...)and noone batted an eyelid !

I live in Switzerland and also BF everywhere. No one commented but I got the general impression they were a bit embarrassed. Whenever someone saw what I was doing they gave me a WIDE WIDE berth averting their eyes - I was always covered because I used a muslin so there was nothing to see except a little baby - and if I was on a train nearby passengers would move immediately so I don't think they liked it much but no one ever said anything negative.

I've never had a problem....mostly in Geneva.
TBH, I never had any problems in the UK either, and also bf here

just back from 10 day trip. Didn't have any problems, BF in train, airport (& plane), cafes & loads in mountain cafe between ski-ing (when MIL took over care), the staff must not have minded as by day 5 they gave us free drinks.

Let the waitresses have a cuddle and everyone will be delighted (we learned that gruebchen is german for dimples).

But we found that at altitude (village ~1800m) everyone gets thirsty and so dd went from waking once to 3 or 4 times/night [bleary-eyed emoticon].
