When did your oversupply calm down?

The signs have been there for a while, but it's only after having given 3wk old DD an inadvertent shower last night that I've realised I'm suffering from over active letdown and oversupply. She is gaining weight like anything, gassy, fussy on the breast, etc.

There's lots of advice online about how to calm down my supply, but almost identical advice in one place says to expect results in 48hrs and in another place says it may take weeks. I'm not sure how long to wait before heading back to the bf clinic.

So my question: how long did your oversupply take to rectify and what had you done to achieve that?

I just went with it untill about 10-12 weeks but avoided hot showers directly and no expressing or any additional stimulation. It had calmed down a lot by then naturally then used block feeding for 6 hours on each breast for a week or so to get it under control. I was advised to not do anything to early as you don't want to cause problems with under supply.

But go back and get rl support to help you through.

Oversupply can often be confused with tongue tie. Might be worth ruling this out.
