Feeding around the clock ...... Zzzzzz

DS is 4.5 mo. he is EBF and hasn't slept thru the night for over a month. He is waking every 3 hours screaming for a feed. I mentioned this to the HV and she said he might be telling me he's ready for some solids at nighttime. He is a big 17lb boy and I'm wondering if my milk just isn't filling enough for him any more? So to keep EBF ing only or introduce something else for bedtime only?

My DS is also 4.5mo. He's never slept through the night and is also still "feeding around the clock"- but I thought that was normal?

He's also a big boy but nobody (apart from my mum, but that's another story) has suggested giving him solids yet. I'm just feeding when he asks for it, as there's more calories in breastmilk than in baby rice etc anyway.

I'd just go with the flow if I were you. If he's slept through at all you're pretty lucky!

Strange that the HV would say that, size is no indication that the gut is ready for solids, official advice is that happens around 6 months. 4 months is a classic time for sleep regression. Keep feeding and ride it out!

We've been lucky and he's slept thru from birth! Started with 5 hours and was upto 9-10 hours of undisturbed sleep by 10 weeks old. This all stopped suddenly after 2 nights in hospital at 13 wo and he has been feeding every 3 hours in the night since then. The HV that have the advice has a reputation for giving early weaning advice!
