Bonkers formula feeding - advice please

My 13 wk daughter has been ill for over 6 weeks with one cold bug after the other, plus this week has had mastitis and taking dicloxicillin. Shes dropped down her percentile .

Anyway, her appetite and demand for food has suddenly gone bonkers, we've upped her formula to 7fl oz of hungry baby which she guzzles dry. Even on this change to hungry baby and increase of a fl oz per feed, shes ravenous.

My hunch is she making up for not being well, please can someone reassure me? I also wondered if she had 'missed' a growth spurt from being unwell and making up for it big time?!

I'm new to ff, i breastfed my first baby for nearly a year but have had to quit this time earlier due to medication, so this is all new.

Could she be having a growth spurt?
Do you feed on demand or to a rough schedule? how much on average over 24hrs?
Tbh afaik hungry baby formula is harder for them to digest, but doesn't contain any more calories, so that might be whay that isn't sating the hunger.

The only advice I would have is to offer a feed more frequently.

Hi OP
Having done both, I'm not sure there is a huge difference between bf and ff when it comes to appetite: if they're hungry, they will demand. Perhaps (although not convinced it is always so) they will get hungrier quicker if bf, but that's all. So I don't think that what you experienced with your first baby is completely redundant.
Personally, I think thay if your baby is demanding food you really have nothing to worry about - the time to worry is when she isn't! I agree she could be making up for having been ill, but she's also just finished her first twelve weeks, a kind of 'bedding in' phase. Now is when it really starts with the milk guzzling, the regular sleeping (hopefully!), the social and behavioural development...it's all tiring and demanding stuff, I think it's entirely normal that she is hungry.
This could also just be a phase, and her intake may drop back in a short while. A potential other source for worry, but if it's not by too much again I wouldn't worry.
Congrats on your new baby!
