So I stopped breastfeeding 2 weeks ago becuase of thrush (well, that is wot the HV said it was) - it was just too painful, but I did pump a bit to try give him at least one bottle of breastmilk a day. I decided to try breastfeed again this weekend and to try reduce formula. All feeds seemed to go well, but the 7pm feed was very sore again. It hurt while he fed and for 2 hours afterwards - which made me want to give up again. Does anyone know if this pain afterwards is thrush or cld it be something else??

Thrush can be a nightmare to get rid of but it can be done. If your LO has a bad latch it'll be v painful to feed or if you've got a milk blister (sound innocent but hurt!). What sort of pain is it? a stabbing, sucking-shards-of-glass-through-the-nipple can be down to a bad latch but that tends to subside after a feed. A burning pain that lasts for hours sounds more like thrush or a milk blister. I got prescribed Fluconazole when I got persistent thrush with DD, it was that or stop bfing really.

You can check here if you think it might be thrush -

I see from yr other thread that your baby is just young.

Pain from positioning/attachment can last after the feed is over :(

You could maybe get another opinion from a breastfeeding counsellor or other bf specialist.
