Help - just fed 6 month old left-out formula!

Hoping someone can help me!

My little boy is 6 months old, and I've fed him 5oz of formula that he had left over from 11pm. DH did the feed and had left the bottle out rather than chucking it, and I just picked the wrong one up. Didn't realise until he'd drained it and I thought "that went fast!" as he normally has 8oz in the morning, then saw the fresh bottle I'd just made sitting on the chest of drawers. Shock

I don't know what I'm posting this for, but I'm absolutely shitting myself here. I only started formula feeding a month ago & have been so meticulous! Has anyone else done this, was your baby ok? Presumably I need to watch for diarrhoea/vomiting? Anything else?

Hi, I did something very similar when my DD was only about 6 weeks old. I felt terrible, but honestly she was fine, no side effects and she was much younger than your DS. I rang my HV and she said don't fret, keep an eye, but likely the worst effect is a bit of tummy ache/diarrhoea that will pass quickly enough. :-)

Thanks. I know every baby is different, but it's reassuring to know your DD was fine and was so much younger. I mean, everything goes in his mouth these days. Bits of food off my plate. Dog hair off the carpet. His immune system must be better than at 6 weeks!

He will be fine.

Exactly Spaniel, they are always putting things in their mouths - I'm sure he'll be absolutely fine especially if he is a generally healthy boy. I think the worry is when people are consistently being unhygienic and careless with making formula feeds which you're clearly not.

Update: he was absolutely fine! Overreaction on my part I think - possibly a bit of PFB syndrome?! Thanks for the advice Smile
