Biting-all the time.

Hi. DS 6 months. He started doing the odd bite a while ago, but now it is constant. I'd say about 30 bites a day! He has teeth, it is so sore I'm thinking of stopping feeding altogether. That won't be easy as he doesn't take a bottle!
I say no very firmly when he does it, and if he persists I stop the feed. Any other suggestions-I dread feeding at the minute.

My dd is 11 months and started this last week. I spoke to the hv about it and she recommends just putting her down and turning away, saying 'no' just once. It seems to be working. Still the odd nip but. Much better than last week. I was close to giving up! Good luck with it!!!

I read somewhere that you should stop the feed and then put the baby down when they do this, wait a moment and then pick up and restart the feed. I think this is what worked with DS1 rather than the ear pearcing scream I involuntary let out as he tried to remove the tip of my nipple

Well thank you all for the input. As suggested in the linked thread I tried giving him lots of attention, stroked hair whispered how good he was etc. we have had the first bite free feed for ages. Thank you and fingers crossed.

That's a positive step. My DD hardly ever bites anymore but occasionally she slips up. Most of the time now it happens so fast and she corrects herself straightaway. Or it happens right at the end of the feed and she's good and proper asleep so I just get my boob out of there. Fingers crossed things continue to get better for you and bubs
