4 feeds a day! Is this ok?

Hi there,

My LO is 11 weeks and 4 days and in the past week seems to have dropped to 4 feeds per day and is sleeping from about 11 until 7.

While I'm delighted he's been sleeping through, I am concerned about him dropping a feed.

He's a big lad and when weighed last week he was 15lb 2oz. He has been following the 91st centile since birth so that's ok. His feeds are 8oz.

I guess what I'm asking is has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking that if he was hungry he would let me know. Just a little worried.

A couple of weeks ago DS (21 wks now) was trying to only have 4 feeds with similar sleeping hours. I was always 'forcing' him to have 5 as I was worried that 4 was too few. Don't think he had any extra though because he'd just go for shorter periods of time. The past week he's been wanting 5 again, but only problem is he's distracted by tv, noises, people, thin air... so much so, that he's started waking at 4:00-4:30-5:00 :(

Sorry, no idea of measures as BF but he's maybe slightly smaller as sitting around the 50th percentile.

As long as he is filling nappies and gaining weight then don't worry. Babies become more efficient as time goes on, he will let you know if hungry! Ask your HV if concerned.

I would say 8oz is a v big feed for that age so fine.

Thanks for your posts.

I'm sure he will tell me if he's hungry and nappies are fine. He's certainly a healthy boy and loves his milk! 8oz is a big feed so he's still getting plenty. It prob wont do any harm to have a bit less per day!

Zoobaby, I hope the early waking is just a phase and my DS doesn't start doing the same! I'm just getting used to getting a bit of decent sleep again!
