Drinking sour milk

Yesterday I had to go out and left my 9mo DS with my MIL for the afternoon. I left a bottle of expressed breast milk but when I came back I discovered she hadn't given it to him for no particular reason (which made me cross in itself; it meant he'd had no milk for nine hours during the day). I assumed that she had kept it refrigerated like she knows to do.

I decided to give him the bottle just now instead; it was expressed a couple of days ago so no reason to worry about it if it had been stored correctly. DS drank over half of it but then started to be less enthusiastic. As I took it away from him I noticed a slightly funny smell. Unscrewed the lid and it smells "off"!

It hadn't curdled or anything, still looked the same as it usually would. I can only guess that MIL left it out of the fridge all afternoon.

What effect will this have on DS? Am really worried Confused

Have you got any other expressed milk? The reason I ask is a friend had an issue with her expressed milk where it went sour.

This link explains it breastfeedingbasics.info/lipase-and-bad-tasting-breast-milk

Yes, I've expressed regularly for months now and it never usually has a funny smell.

DS hasn't so far experienced any bad effects of drinking it so maybe it will be ok.
