Help 10wk old turned into a demon feeder!

so after a rocky start with ebf me and ds have been doing great until Friday. He'd turned in to a demon bashing me with his fists, scratching, pinching my skin and other nipple. He's gone from a happy 3 hour on the dot feeding baby to either being on my breast or screaming since Friday morning. Only I can stop him crying and he just will not sleep (a few 10 min naps today he must be shattered!)

I'm struggling absolutely knackered! Is this likely to be one of these growth spurt things that will pass after a few days? What's all the hitting and scratching about? Any ideas or just moral support gratefully received!

It sounds like a growth spurt to me. If so it usually seems at it's worst just before it eases off again so if he's been like this since Friday it is hopefully about to improve. You're doing really well!
The scratching may just be frustration on his part and should hopefully ease off too.

I agree prob a growth spurt, will prob settle down soon and he may get better at getting more milk in a shorter time. Have you been given a phone number to ring for help or is there a local breast feeding support group? If you're not too tired to go.

sounds like a growth spurt. eat plenty & rest plenty if you can.
As for the flailing arms, can you hold his hand or get him to grab your top to distract him? good luck :-)

I had a few episodes of that around the same time with DS - I don't think I left the sofa... Shock I agree if it's been on since Friday then you're probably about to resume normal service and the thrashing around will more than likely stop as well. My theory at the time was that because he was feeding constantly, he wasn't getting the big gush at the beginning and was having to work harder for smaller rewards. Also, if he's tired it could be frustration - even now at 6mths, if DS is knackered at bedtime he gets really cross and won't feed (there's no violence though, just whinging and arm waving).
You'll get there, don't worry!

I had the exact same thing last week. My little daemon ended up growing 3cm almost immediately and I've had to buy him new sleepsuits etc. He's just 11 weeks old.

Wow so glad I'm not the only one! Thanks for your messages! I'm into day 4 of demon baby! And not sure how I'm surviving the lack of sleep...
