Formula fed baby - what's your "routine"

Hello
DD is just 8days old and she has been FF from day 4.
Ok ok I know there is no routine, but when DS was a baby he had 3 oz 3 hourly. DD is all over the show, there is just no pattern to her feeds.

She will generally take 2oz at a time but sometimes she will go 3 hours, and sometimes only an hour and she is hungry again?

All theses small amounts she is having throughout the day/night means she is having over 20oz a day some days!!!!

Any advise ?

Contact your HV or try the Aptamil helpline (they were more helpful than HV, to be honest).

DS was FF from 2 weeks and there was no 3-4 hourly pattern emerging until about 6 weeks. If he's hungry, feed him!

Feed her, I mean! Smile

Thanks Zara, that's what I've been doing as wouldn't want her to go hungry, I was just worried that by doing this im over filling her
You would think that having done this already with DS I would know what I'm doing Confused

LOL don't worry, I freaked out that DS didn't go any longer between feeds initially when he switched for expressed breast milk initially. When i was panicking and couldn't get hold of any other advice, the Aptamil chatline lady said DS' totals were within the normal range. HV and GP agreed.

My DH is freaking out right now that in the past week 14 week old DS has been taking 6 x 8oz bottles daily, sometimes 7! I pointed out that it is slightly difficult to reason with a 3 month old that they're having more than the formula tin says they should have Wink

just feed her when she's hungry at the moment - she is tiny and needs to be fed whenever she wants to account for the huge amount of growing they do in the first few weeks. Don't worry about it - she'll take what she needs and if she takes too much you'll soon know about it in the form of sick ;-) If she was breast fed she would feed on demand and you wouldn't worry about how many ounces she was having so try not to worry at the moment.

A 3 hourly routine will emerge a little bit later, at about 6 weeks probably.
