After 21 very long months of breastfeeding the boy is finally being weaned. I was just feeding him at bedtime and usually at least once during the night - usually twice. This is the third night off and I'm in pain! I have expressed a little just to take the edge off but I'm full to bursting! Don't really want to express much more as I don't want my body to think there is any demand any more.
Although I know if I do this slowly it will work I am considering asking my doctor for the tablet that stops milk production. Is there a particular trade name for this - I'm in Spain and don't want to try and explain everything to the pharmacist! Also, is it any good for you??

I'm a bit worried about mastitis really - help!

Chicca, I would think expressing for a while until you are more comfortable would be fine. Is there any reason why you have to stop so suddenly? Dropping one feed at a time might be more comfortable for you.

Sorry I don't know anything about the drug to stop milk production. My instincts would tell me it is better to avoid it if possible, but that is not based on any information, just that I feel it's better not to muck about with natural processes if there is another answer.

I hope someone more knowledgeable will be along later!

I definitely think dropping one feed at a time is the way to go.

But if there are external reasons not to - maybe just express at bedtime for a couple of weeks - DS can have it on his breakfast. Smile
