I started expressing this week, using the M Swing, all well and good, lots of lovely bottles lined up to go. Using the Calma teat as recommended by lots of people on here as most like bf, and had our first try at feeding today. Dh gave it to him using the calma, after I'd already given him a bit, which he seemed to work out how to suck, but only got 10ml in 10minutes. This doesn't seem like a successful rate and there was quite a lot of fussing.

Will persevere for now or we have tommy tippee teats to try, but don't want to chop and change too much. Does anyone who's successfully used the calma teat have any advice/tips? Or anyone have other recommended teats or techniques? It is mainly so that my mother can feed him when she's up, to give me time to go to the hairdresser for example, or for Dh and i to go out for a couple of hours on our own. Selfish maybe but it would be sooo helpful..

I sucked a tiny bit if milk through so she knew it was there. It took a couple of days as they have to work as though they're breastfeeding to get it, but she's fine on it now.

Good to know. We're trying again tonight - did it only take a few days? Did it seem like the flow rate was really slow? (I think I have quite a fast book flow rate from what I can tell!)

Hi. I used the Calma bottles with my dd when I was bf to give expressed milk as one of my nipples was too damaged to feed from. There are fiendishly difficult to construct. We discovered we hadn't put the 2 yellow bits together the correct way and this was stopping the full milk flow. Once we got that sorted dd took about 3 days to figure out how to suck from the teat.
