DC2 is a very hungry 7.5kg 4 mo who has been EBF on demand.
I breastfed her brother 2 years ago for 8 months so I thought i kind of knew what i was doing when DD arrived and that i was able to deal with growth spurts....this is what DD is now apparently going through as she has been feeding non stop since yesterday and i find myself devastated as she simply does not seem to get enough !
I have always been a strong believer in on demand nursing and always fought off any suggestions by MIL that i should top up with formula by arguing that baby knows best how to boost supply and that there is no such thing as producing too little-if you allow baby to sort it out.
Have i been wrong???
DD has been crying all day long and sucking her fingers like mad when she is not at my boob .... And gets very angry when milk does not seem to be coming as she really seems to have emptied both breasts and they just need a minute or two to re-charge....it hurts me to see her hungry like that and im close to give up and buy a package of formula-something i never thought i would be thinking of and something id rather not do but i honestly dont know what to do with her....
Can somebody tell me please that this Is just a normal growth spurt and production will be up and running anytime now, so no need to fill her up with formula??? Or is it cruel that i leave her hungry like that???
