Reusing bottles for a second baby

MissV1 · 17/01/2013 12:44

I'm getting ready for the arrival of our second baby and wondering if it's ok to reuse the bottles, once sterilised, from first time around, and just get new teats? Any advice please?

How long ago did you have dc1?

JiltedJohnsJulie · 17/01/2013 12:48

Are they BPA free?

lightrain · 17/01/2013 12:49

Why not?

I reused. I didn't even get new teats. Most of mine were handmedowns even when DD1 had them. I bf though so she rarely had a bottle.

Why wouldn't you re-use, BPA or something?

Yes it's the boa but also worn bottles can have scratches that could harbour bacteria. If you want to read more on BPA have a look here and here.

Obviously it isn't a killer as weiss says, it's just something that you might not want your baby to be exposed to when there is alternative Smile

I reused and didn't get new teats - it was fine. Though I was ebf with the occasional bottle of ebm so they weren't getting a massive workout. They were secondhand to start with, too.

Thanks all! Smile

I bought new ones. The measurements were all washed off of the old ones and the rings scuffed. Plus dd, 2, still uses them.
