Quick question about missed feeds

Sorry I always ask the odd questions but .................I now do morning and night feeds only for ds, usually both sides about 10 - 15 mins a side. He's a bit virally at the moment and off his food. This morning he took left side only for 15 mins and refused the right so a bit engorged tonight. He's just refused both sides and isn't well. I'm rubbish at expressing but I've just expressed only 1 oz off the sore side and 2 off my left ( lefts always ds favorite and produces more ) my question is will my milk drop off after two poor feeds or is it a bit more reliable than that ? Also what should I do to keep my supply up ? Ds is 7months now. I really don't want to stop due to this hiccup Sad

I don't think this will affect your supply. I breastfed my dd until she was two and we went for a day or two here and there where she didn't feed but she still managed to get supply back when she wanted it!

Try your best at expressing to keep your supply up. I don't think it will make too much difference, either, esp. as you are obviously still producing well (as you said you're engorged) I stepped up ds's solids too quickly las month and he hardly took much from me for 2 days, I was quite worried so just put him to the breast as much as poss the next day and we were back on track. I don't know how long you could go at this stage but my ds is 8m, 4 feeds per day (only 1 side at a time though) and I'm sure we'd be fine for a good couple of days. He'll prob be fine tomorrow or Saturday.

Seriously though my gut feeling is not to worry and hope he feeds in the morning. last thread I started about feeding Tiktok was quite reassuring about how robust bf is. So fingers crossed.

How did you get on, rsf?

redstarfalling · 23/04/2006 19:40

Sorry about not responding sooner Brambilina. Friday night about the same and refused in the morning. Kept expressing as much as could. Saturday night took much bigger feed and this morning. Tonight must be feeling better took a bite out of me first then 15 mins each side again and would have stayed forever if hadn't fallen asleep. So fingers crossed thats all over ! Thanks for everything Smile

I did the same with my DD for the second six months of her first year and my milk never dried up. I could even do more feeds if she was ill. Don;t worry
