How are you supposed to hold the baby when you're on MN?

I had forgotten how hard this was. Atm he is precariously balanced on my lap, one foot resting on t'other knee forming a cradley-shaped thing a bit like a triangle.

When he needs the boob again I am going to have to wander orf and do something like sit down, properly, or I'll have to find a cushion.

What do you do? I've been almost without it for 5 days since he was born and can't take a lot more tbh.

thankyou. Grin

Baby nestled in left arm asleep, sat on sofa with iPad on the seat next to me.

MummyWeatherwax · 08/01/2013 14:04

On my phone.
Any time day or night, baby gets one hand, MN gets the other!

Oodhousekeeping · 08/01/2013 14:07

iPhone!

Can I sort of tie him to the desk somehow? Or is this verboten? Like a safety net thing.

It's NBG isn't it.

Get a blackberry PlayBook, I can MN in the dark while breastfeeding brilliant!

duchesse · 08/01/2013 14:10

Pile of cushions on lap to just below height of norks, baby perched on top with one arm to retain, other hand for capital-free typing- job's a good un.

Piemother · 08/01/2013 14:11

Smart phone! Brill op he he Grin

RooneyMara · 08/01/2013 14:11

Oh God Duchesse the one handed typing. I was there for YEARS with ds2. I hate one handed typing.

baby cradled and just move your hand to move the mouse.
you have to type one-handed.

it's sooo much easier when they get bigger and you can rest them on your lap.

cushions are useful.

nickelbabylyinginamanger · 08/01/2013 14:20

okay, you need to get a cumfy chair - lots of cushions under your bum.

cushions under his body on your lap.

ooooh!
a sling!!!

leedy · 08/01/2013 14:23

Baby on Brest Friend cushion, laptop or phone.

RooneyMara · 08/01/2013 14:32

Hmm Nickel I am going to revisit the lovely sling thread which I didn't come back to the other day due to afterpains and see if any of them look like feeding-type ones.

thankyou for your help everyone, tis a serious problem!

curiousuze · 08/01/2013 20:01

Sell the desktop, get an iPad

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 08/01/2013 20:05

baby on blanket on desk in front of you.. boob in mouth your arms cradling round baby but desk taking the weight.

PoppyWearer · 08/01/2013 20:14

Mini iPad. Even better than a big iPad because you can hold it one-handed more easily.

HoneyDragon · 08/01/2013 20:19

Small arm chair. Desktop relocated so monitor angled in position that allows tv view age too. Stretch keyboard cable so it reaches knee, repeat with mouse, used on arm of chair.

Key skills for prolonged desktop usage are being able to use the mouse with both hands for boob swappage. Do this for around a year and your dh will get so annoyed by the who shebang he'll buy you a laptop Grin

PurplePidjin · 08/01/2013 20:27

Same as stitch! Baby rests on boob-side arm, tablet supported by that hand plus squidgy cloth-nappied bum. Tip tap typing/coffee drinking/biscuit munching with free hand :o
