Looking for some advice. My 5mo only cat naps during the day . She falls asleep at the breast , when I put her in her cot she will sleep there for 10 mins and she is wide awake again :( I'm finding this really exhausting, she is the same at night then ends up in our bed then I can't sleep as I get reallllly hot and uncomfortable . I'm also worried this is fast becoming a very bad habit ? We are having a kingsize bed delivers today so hopefully that will help with night time squashy problems. Has anyone else been in this position? Will it mean we are laying down a bad habit? I can't leave her too long to cry as my DP has work at 5am and feel it unfair to keep him awake all night by trying to let her self settle. TIA

It is so hard - I feel your pain!
Have you read The No Cry Sleep Solution? It has some good tips.

Do you wait until she's really solidly asleep on you before you transfer her (ie no sucking motions, no twitching)? It can take 15m of them being asleep to drop into a really deep sleep - by that point they've gone completely floppy.

I wouldn't worry too much about long term issues. My DD was exactly the same - exclusively breastfed and haaaaated her cot. Would put her down - she'd wake up 15 minutes later and cry. Nestled next to me in bed - no worries - slept like a log. We ended up leaving her to sleep in the bed for about 20 minutes, and then moving her once she was fast, fast asleep.

You could look at a co sleeping cot where the side drops down completely so that you have a bit more space but can be beside her. My DD never got used to her cot and in the end was only happy once we got her a full size bed (when she was 1 and 3/4). I think she didn't like the bars. Now (at 3) she settles herself to sleep in her bed with no issues.

You could look at freecycle sites - they often have things come up. Or, you could try a mattress on the floor - you can lie with her until she goes to sleep, then leave her there (possibly with barriers to stop her rolling off - I really like the inflatable bumpers that hippychick do).
