Feeding since 5 pm

Ds, 5 days old, has been feeding on and off since 5pm, so nearly six hours. Lots of milk - can hear it being sucke and also is there if I give nipples a squeeze, and he has a strong suck. He falls asleep on the breast a bit but wakes hungrily after five mins when I put him down. Prior to starting this feed he had a good 4 hour sleep so was no doubt hungry. Still, I would like to try to get some sleep myself soon. Any advice?

Well done - sounds like he's trying to get your milk up. Go with it and your supply will increase, then he won't have to nurse for so long. Congratulations!

Bear with him. I remember the first week or two. It seemed like my DS would never stop feeding! It will get better. Try to sleep when he sleeps. He'll do plenty of that too, just maybe not when you want to!

Tis evening cluster feeding - normal but quite tying! Get the box sets out or go to bed where you can both lie down :)

congratulations! my ds is 12weeks now and I remember this well. keep going, sound like you are both doing great. your milk, latch etc should be fully established within a week or so and everything will settle down. But take the advice given above every opportunity u get to sleep, take it! Smile
