baby very gassy after having my frozen breast milk?

Hi all. I wondered if anyone has had a similar issue and any advice.

My husband bottle feeds our 3 month old son breastmilk in the evenings when i am getting some rest - sometimes he uses milk i have expressed that day, and other times when i havent expressed enough he will use some that has been frozen.

Our baby regularly has problems with gas overnight - he may be fine for days but some nights will go through hours of seemingly quite severe pain, that leaves him writhing around and crying and eventually passing a lot of wind. I think i am starting to notice a pattern emerge that this happens when he has had frozen milk rather than freshly expressed milk.

I am 100 % confident the milk is not off - it has been pumped and stored correctly in deep freeze and is less than 3 months old. i have also tested it :-) My OH also thoroughly defrosts the milk and warms it just before use, so cold milk / milk sitting too long in the fridge is not the issue.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? I have a lot of frozen breastmilk as my baby was prem, and i pumped a lot more than he could eat while he was in hospital. Obviously ill dump the milk if this is the cause of the gas, but am reluctant if it could be something else!

any advice appreciated

Is your OH shaking the bottle? I found that can make it quite gassy. Might be worth trying a different sort of bottle to see if that helps.

Alternatively it might just be coincidence. Certainly don't dump the milk!
