Just wondered what u mums did?

  1. Make as per instructions with fresh boiled water as needed.
  1. Make in advance with powder and store in fridge

Or

  1. Make up bottles with water, allow to cook and add powder as needed.

My mw recommended 1 but also said 3 was fine if couldnt wait half hour for feed.

Thanks.

I know it is not the right thing to do but I made them in advance with powder and stored in the fridge. I eventually moved onto ready made formula. I had not done any research into formula feeding before ds came along. I just assumed I he would be bf'd but it wasnt to be. Hopefully you will get some good advice from others.

I remember some one posting the WHO guidelines a while back when I first had to mix feed. I was so guilt ridden I researched formula feeding Heavily as i felt so bad having to do it :-( Route 1 is the best but for storing up to 24 hours I believe route 2 is thei WHO recommendation as the hot water needs to kill possible nasties in the powder. The guidelines were changed a few years back after some babies got ill ( a few died but not in the uk) the old way of using cold boiled water. A few HV apparently haven't got themselves up to date yet.
It is impossible to do bottles fresh every time with a hungry baby.
I tend to do a few batches together saving one in the fridge ready made. They are never really there longer than a few hours.
