Help -mastitis-how long until I start to feel better?

I have a 5 month old. Woke up this morning with definite mastitis (doctor last week thought it was thrush -might have been at that time). Got earliest appointment to see doctor at 3.30pm this afternoon and he took one look and gave me a prescription for antibiotics which I started right away.

I have felt terrible all day -achy, fever, chills, redness. Have been feeding baby and expressing as much as possible.

How long will it take for the antibiotics to kick in? I have a toddler too so down time is hard to find (although I could barely move today so DH managed without me).

In so much pain just want to know if/when there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you!

I had a bad case a few weeks ago. Felt dreadful for first 36 hours after starting antibiotics but much better once they'd kicked in. Completely better after about 5 days.

You have my sympathies- I've never experienced anything so painful. Take the max ibruprofen and paracetamol and try hand expressing in the bath
