Hi. Dd2 whos 16 weeks, fully breat feed since birth and unlike Dd1 has taken to it very easy.

However, yesterday she started to refuse the left breast. She turn her head away, pull back and scream. It's as though she is not hungry, I try to feed her for 5 mins or so from that side, but she cries all the time. I put her down and let her cry for a minute and try again, but crying just gets louder.

When I finally give in, and put her to my right breast she feeds straight away - no problem. If I take her off the right once she is nicely settled into feed to try to put her on left she either refuses to have any more thinking she has finished or just cries until I put her back on right.

She is teething butteething happening for 2 weeks or so - so can't see that being the issue.

Any ideas why this is happening? And how I can get her to take left breast? Left boob about to burst - although am expressing a little to take edge off pain.

Any help would be great. Thanks

It is probably is teething, have you had a look in her mouth?

Usually it something going on in the mouth when they refuse a breast.

Could it be a problem with ear pain? Have you tried different positions?

They do sometimes prefer one breast over another. Will she take the left breast if she is almost asleep? I agree with smk84 that you might want to see if there is an issue with ear pain.
