Breast after bottle

EverythingsDozy · 26/12/2012 16:59

My 7wo basically had 24hrs of breast but never properly latched on when he was first born but since then has been bottle fed. He had two weeks of expressed BM and then went onto formula.
He now has reflux and colic and I REALLY wish I'd not given up on BF.
Is there any way I can get him to latch at this late stage?? Obviously I'd have to express to get my milk supply up but is there any way of getting him to BF???
Does anyone have any experience of this?

I am 4 weeks into relactation. My 16 week old was bf for 3 weeks. My milk is back and she has latched twice.

I would recommend:

Get real life help - bf cafe, infant feeding specialist at your hospital

Use helplines - NCT and LLL

Read The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding

Hire a hospital grade pump

Commit to pumping 10 min 8 times a day - inc one night pump

Buy a Supplemental Nursing System

Use the nipple of the bottle to encourage a 'gape'

Investigate herbal supplements

And, skin to skin - as much as possible

Good luck!
