Dark Yellow Wee - 4 days old

My NB has been feeding like there is no tomorrow - I had another thread about that called I just want to cry.

5/6 hour solid feeds. Have very sore nipple, he is slightly jaundiced and has def been running a temp which appears to have broken.

Feeds last night went on for over 3 hours a time, this morning he seems a little easier (thankfully and I hope related to my milk kicking in).

However I have just changed his nappy and his urine is a much darker yellow than I would expect, the nappy is almost bright yellow.

I have tried google - but it is unclear whether this is something to worry about or not.

DH has just popped out so I am off in the bath, back shortly - this is BF DC4 and I have never had the sort of issues I am having feeding this one, Ive been really struggling tbf, although I babymooned last night and intend to today and things seems to be improving.

Is it dark yellow or bright yellow?

See how it goes today and if you're still worried, call NHS direct for some advice

You need to keep feeding to get rid of the jaundice - maybe that is the cause of the bright yellow nappies

Second TanteRose's advice.

can you give the midwife a ring? maybe someone can pop by you on their rounds....

my first thought is that its the jaundice sorting itself out, but I am not medically trained or experienced!

I'd say because of jaundice. Ds2 was very jaudiced and his wee went bright Orange, and smelled very strongly of breastmilk.
Congratulations

It is bright, bright yellow rather than dark, if he seems worse, then I will ring midwife, the ward is only around the corner so I can always pop him in, although he was home birthed so they tend to come to me.

He def doesnt look as jaundiced now as he did yesterday and his temperature has come down, just rung DH and he is galliantly driving around with a screaming baby, so I have told him to come home so I can feed him again.

Its been manic since he was born, with visitors and Christmas - so its time to have a few chilled days with him before this special newborn time passes.
