My little girl is nearly four months old and has decided to work on her arms whilst feeding! She pushes so hard away from me with both arms I struggle to keep her close, and as a result my nipple tends to quadruple in length as she keeps it in her mouth. She is generally fussy, and has a poor latch. The background is a very shakey start to feeding, with tongue tie diagnosed at eight weeks. I had such bad trauma to my nipples it took six weeks for the open wounds to heal, and I had to use shields the whole time. Now after two further months I have nearly weaned off the shields but her latch is very shallow and there is not much I can seem to do about it.
I suppose my question is does anyone else have a baby with the strength of an ox, and do most babies go through this kind of thing, or is it because of our difficulties and using shields?? etc. any advice appreciated as it feels like a battleground at the moment and it can't be very relaxing for her!
Happy christmas!
