hi, my dd is 10 months on Tuesday and im now back at work. i still bf morning lunch and dinner time with a small feed around 10am. expressing is becoming harder and slower as the weeks go on and i don't have the time to express what she needs. am i ok to give her cows milk at breakfast ( 4oz - 2 with her porridge and 2 to drink)??? my other question is if i stop expressing at work can i still bf at 10 when she is with me or will this mess up my supply?? (so she will drink at 10 what i express in the morning before work) or can i go straight to cows milk at 10am as its only 2oz?? i have vitamin drops to add to the cows milk if that makes it better. Tia

Cows milk is fine in cooking from 6 months so its fine to add this to porridge.

As for cows milk to drink, I'm not trained so you may want to run this past a BFC but I worked pt at ten months and both of mine had solids and a drink when I was at work and bf on the days I was there, my supply seemed to cope just fine. Both of mine refused cows milk until I'd stopped bfing but I would have given it to them if the little buggers they had wanted it.

And I think vit drops are now recommended for all babies.

Agree that is the advice but I'm sure I've seen tiktok say that replacing one feed with cows milk is fine at this age, like I say though the OP is probably best talking to a BFC.

Sorry if I've got it wrong tiktok

Hi, on the supply side I wouldn't worry about it too much. My dd is 9 months and I've been back at work 3 days a week for a while now. I usually manage to pump a feed or so in the morning before I go in which she has during the day but otherwise don't pump at all at work (it's such a faff and I have a lipase issue so dd doesn't really like drinking my milk even just a day later so it just went to waste anyway).

When not at work I feed on demand. I've not had any supply issues at all doing this and there still seems to be plenty there to feed during the day when I'm about. The body is a pretty super thing and I think far more adaptable then people give it credit for :)

I work full time, never express at work, and can still bf on demand all day at weekends. As someone said earlier, our bodies are just amazing!
