Silent reflux - NOTHING helping!!

Hi all, bit of a long winded one, since birth LO was a nightmare to feed, originally BF but I must admit I found it too stressful so switched to FF (wasn't diagnosed at this time) took her back and forward to docs who kept fobbing me off, as her feeding wasn't right she will arch her back, toss her head to the side, scream, doesn't like to be laid flat after feed etc etc. finally we got referred to a paed, diagnosed silent reflux & prescribed ranitidine. No joy, no improvement and one week she would SCREAM and SCREAM even when the bottle was put to her mouth without taking any milk, we took her to a and e as she hadnt fed all day & she was prescribed domperidone ontop of the ranitidine - again no joy 2 weeks later. Back to ped, scrapped ranitidine, scrapped domperidone (paed said didn't know why she was prescribed domperidone when sickness wasn't an issue anyway) and put onto omeprazole, told to trial for 2 weeks and if no better to take her to GP and get prescribed a hyperallergenic milk called nutramigen aa. Doc prescribed & said scrap meds all together. Done that, we're now on day 5 of new milk but bubs seems very constipated on top of the fussing with bottles..........
She's failing to thrive, dropping down her centiles, I feel like the worlds worst parent when I can't feed my poor little bubs & make her gain weight, she's now 17 weeks and she's TINY, still in 0-3 month clothes.
I don't know what else to do we're just not getting anywhere & I was wondering if anyone had anything similar, from what I've read on SR everyone seems to have had SOMETHING what agrees with their LO but nothing seems to be working for mine...
Every feed is a mission then she'll suddenly have a couple of days where she's not so bad & I think "ooo were getting there!" Then she goes back to the crying & fussing!
Stressssseeeeed!!!!!! Xxx

See another paed? Maybe the diagnosis is questionable - you've had three different meds and a change of milk, and your baby's growth and comfort are still a concern, and no wonder....sounds very difficult.

I would also request they consider allergy or intolerance. Maybe a pepti formula would help :(

Sorry just saw u said she's on nutramigen Blush

Blackwell453 · 19/12/2012 17:46

There are other milks too. Just like the regular formulas, despite being basically the same thing some just settle better than others. It's a case of finding the right one.

For example dd2 tried two. She didn't get in eith cow and gate pepti junior but thrived on aptamil pepti.

Perhaps ask your healyh visitors about baby massage classes as that can help calm and soothe babies very much and it's a lovely thing to do with them. Will help with the constipation too as you can massage tummy and help move things along.
