Hi,
My 9 month old son has been ebf, he's never taken a bottle and has limited success with a cup (manages a few teaspoons of water a day) I started blw at 6 months but he's just not into food really. As an example he ate 2cm of sausage and a heaped tablespoon of mash for dinner and that was one of the biggest dinners he's ever had. Anyway, for the last few days he's gone back to feeding at least every hour (had been every 3-4 hours) due to his age and how easily he is distracted he latches on and off 5-6 times within the 15 minute feed. He only feeds from one side (long term issue) and I am so so sore. Sad I'm exhausted, I'm sore (did I mention that?) and I've had enough of it! I'm crying whilst writing this as I just don't know what to do. I can't leave him hungry but there's no milk left to give him and it hurts!
I don't have a question really, just need some support from people who understand what I'm going through. Thanks.

Hey there.
I feel your pain, quite literally sometimes!! Dd is 8.5 months. Ebf. Bottle refuser, spoon refuser. Also eats a nil amount of food. Today she has had a chew on a toast finger. That is it!
I have found her feeding increasing again. But she has more teeth coming so i think that must be the reason. But ow! Her new teeth have changed her latch and it does hurt a bit so i know what you mean. Maybe your dc is teething too?
The only thing I'd say about your post is OF COURSE you still have milk!!! Your books are a dab hand at this.now!!

Hi feekerry Grin thank you. That helps a lot! I didn't think about teeth changing his latch. He has six now..I meant I had no more milk last night when I wrote the post, he's really emptying me at the moment! After a terrible night we just woke up after a couple of hours solid sleep so have had a bit if time to recover and am less sore. Thank you again. Smile

Increased feeding could be down to a growth spurt. Especially if accompanied by extra sleep.

TroubleAndFyfe · 14/12/2012 07:46

Hahahaha, no. No extra sleep! I agree it could be a growth spurt though!
I was only just in March feekerry as he was 3 weeks early- arrived on the 1st. He also refuses a spoon but had recently started accepting a fork. Smile
