Weaning from breast - help!!

I'm gradually weaning my 15mo ds and all has been going fine. We now just have the morning feed left to go but ds is not going to do so without a fight it seems! The problem is, I have very little milk left with one feed a day and every morning we have a hysterical meltdown when he can't get what he wants :(

Anyone experience this? Tips?? He won't take a beaker and is incensed if we try, he just frantically roots me and screams. Lovely dh is getting up most mornings at 6.30am to remove him from the boobs, but this morning it was 5.30am and there must be another way!

I've considered moving to the sofa when dh gets ds out of his cot of a morning, or getting dh to take a beaker of milk in first thing (ds usually comes straight into bed with us and I continue dozing...). I was away for the first time overnight at the weekend and apparently ds was fine with cows milk....but then I wasn't there. If I am he wants boob.

Help!

Would he be ok if you got up, took him downstairs and gave him his breakfast instead of a bf?

Thanks for the reply :) and I actually had the chance to do just that this morning. Had to give dh a lift to station and we all overslept so no time for lazy morning boob. Oh my god. Hysterical meltdown like I've never seen. The kind of crying where you end up sort of hiccuping for breath. Oh dear.

Not sure where to go from here, whether to go cold turkey and put up with more meltdowns until who knows when...or hope he loses interest if my supply continues to drop?

Have you thought about asking a BFC on one of the bfing helplines?
