Surely he can't still be hungry?!

Hi all
I have a nearly 4 wk old ds who is breastfeeding. I can only feed from one side due to inverted nipple and express from dodgy side which DH bottle feeds to him (on advice of breastfeeding support worker)

My problem is the amount he is feeding. All day he feeds for between 10 mins and an hour, the has a 5/10 min nap and wants to be back on. If we go out he does not cry to be fed, only when in the house and he's rooting and finger sucking constantly. Is this normal?

I would keep a close eye on his weekly weight gain and only worry if his weight gain is not within "normal" boundaries. The support nurse would be able to help with this.

That's why I'm stressing. At 5 days old we were taken back in due to weight loss. He's been consistently gaining since then and is over his birth weight now. Due to be weighed tomorrow and health visitor is happy with him.

It's just the fact that he is on and off that is driving me mad, but anything to keep his weight up

At this age their on and off all day long it's true what they say newborns just eat sleep and -shit- poop. They can't do anything else at this age. My dc2 is exactly the same so was my son. Just get comfy and feed got at least another 12 weeks until it settles down.
